Apart From You...

by - 5:30 AM

I am on a journey to truly understand what it means to trust God. With the help of a spiritual mentor, I've been given homework to study the following two passages and come back with all I've learned.

This isn't a typical blog post but rather a rambling and processing that is taking place, but you are welcome to come along for the journey...

You save the humble
but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
My God turns my darkness into light.
With your help I can advance against a troop;
with my God I can scale a wall.
- Psalm 18:27-29

Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labour in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
Psalm 127:1-2

Processings:

Humility and salvation are linked.
There is salvation to those who are willing to die to themselves and take up their cross.
God will humble those who are arrogant.
He will actively humble the proud.

God sustains me and brings light to my surroundings.
He gives me the energy I need to keep going.
God takes my confusion and pain and turns it into peace and joy.

Apart from God, I can do nothing.

With God's help, I can overtake the things that intimidate me, like the mountains I face.
With God's help, I can stand against the fears, shortcomings, and sin that I struggle with.
With my God, I can overcome the barriers that are in front of me.

Unless God is with me, my work will be in vain.
Unless I am with God, all that I do will be counted as loss.
Unless God has said it is so, my dreams and desires are for nothing.
Apart from God, my work and my successes are in vain.

Apart from you Lord, I can do nothing.
